If you’re a happy hour connoisseur like myself, then you’ve probably Googled and TikTok’ed your way into a new restaurant or bar for some reasonable eats and cocktails. After a long day of work - whether you’re standing on your feet for eight hours or hunched over your desk staring at a computer screen - grabbing a drink and a quick bite to eat after work doesn’t sound half bad. There is nothing wrong with unwinding after a long day before heading home to tend to your after work responsibilities before starting the day over tomorrow.
Rather you’re getting off work, want a chill spot to hang out with some friends, or you just want to get out the house and enjoy your own company, I’ve curated a list of happy hour spots in the Los Angeles area that just might turn you into a regular patron.
1.) Cabo Cantina
If you are in the mood for good Mexican food accompanied by strong drinks, Cabo Cantina just might be your spot. There are three locations for you to choose from - Marina Del Rey, Hollywood, and Santa Monica. Their happy hour starts at 4pm and ends at 8pm, serving 2 for 1 drinks. The food is good quality and depending what you order, the portions are shareable.
2.) 33 Taps
Another not so hidden gem is 33 Taps. Located in Culver City, Downtown Los Angeles, and Silverlake, this sports bar has an amazing happy hour on Monday-Friday from 3pm-7pm and everyday 9:30pm until closing time. They offer selected $5 pints, $7 house liquors, $8 wine and cocktails, $17 pitchers, and $9 food choices. My personal food favorites are the nachos and the burrito. Both are filling! For the sports fans out there, if you’re worried about missing a game, don’t worry; they have plenty of tv’s playing the day’s sports.
3.) Melody Bar & Grill
If you are ever in the LAX area from 3pm-6pm, stop by Melody Bar & Grill for a good vibe. You definitely get your money’s worth with their $6 well drinks. If you are in the mood for beer and/or wine, they offer $1 off of your purchase. The food definitely hits the spot. I always order the lemon pepper chicken strips with fries. There are a couple tv’s to enjoy sports games, as well as a pool table for those to enjoy. Melody’s also hosts special events such as live music, karaoke, DJs, and more.
4.) Fogo de Chao
If you want to eat and drink classy on a budget, I am going to let you in on a little secret - there are plenty of five star restaurants that have happy hours too. You can ball on a budget, eat like the queen/king you are, and have some social media post worthy content. This Brazilian restaurant offers an all day happy hour at their bar with $5 beers, $8 South American wines, and $10 brazilian-inspired cocktails. They also have select food items to choose from. My personal favorite is the empanadas.
5.) Barca Restaurant
Located by USC, La Barca is another fave that serves good food and drinks. Their happy hour is from 3pm-8pm and are pretty generous with their plates and margaritas. College football season is in full effect, and if you’re a fan of USC, then what better than indulging in delicious eats in a Trojan environment? I’ve only been there once, but I definitely will be taking a visit soon.

6.) 3rd Base LA
I’ve been to 3rd Base a few times, but never during a happy hour. What I can tell you is if you are looking for a Hollywood vibe, but not too Hollywood, 3rd Base is a place I recommend visiting. Their happy hour starts at 12pm and ends at 7pm Monday-Friday. If you are also visiting LA or looking for a place to go for your weekly get together with your friends on Friday night, 3rd Base has pretty good DJs that will have your Instagram videos
