Wake up, sunshine! It’s a new, beautiful day and fresh start with endless possibilities. Take a sip of that water that I’m sure you have on your nightstand for when you get thirsty, and get ready to start your day. But before you move your blankets and jump out of bed, how about discarding your own thought pattern of dreading going to work or whatever obligations or responsibilities you have to do for the day?
That’s right; no more “I don’t want to go to work,” or “today is going to be a long” as your daily mantras. Instead, we are going to replace those negative phrases with positive, uplighting ones so that you won’t manifest a horrible day.
I am a firm believer in how you start your morning ultimately determines how the rest of your day looks. Just think about it. You wake up and the first thought of your day is how you despise your job and everything about your life sucks. Then before you can even make it to the bathroom to brush your teeth and shower, you stub your toe on the side of your bed. This causes you to scream or curse, or both, and now you’re limping in pain to the bathroom, already in a horrible mood and you just opened your eyes two minutes prior. On your way to work, you are stuck in traffic, spill coffee on your shirt, and don’t have time to eat the breakfast you made for yourself.
Sounds awful, right? I’m no expert on how to set yourself up to have a rough day, but I do know that by continuously focusing on the negative you can inadvertently manifest more negative.
This is why I am a huge advocate for affirmations. Affirmations are simply phrases we tell ourselves over and over again again to influence and reprogram our subconscious mind into a more positive direction. The more you repeat positive statements about your life, yourself, or both, you internalize them therefore reprogramming your mind and thought process.
I have curated a list of some of my favorite affirmations I use to start my day. Feel free to use mine or create your own. Remember, the point of affirmations is to not just say them, but to start to believe that what you are saying is actually true. Repetition is key, and it works. Let’s get started!
