Feeling Like You Didn't Accomplish Your New Year's Resolution(s)? The Lie Detector Determined...THAT Was A Lie!

I would be lying if I didn’t say that I was the type of person who would create a vision board nearly EVERY year. Gathering newspapers, magazines, pictures from the internet, markers, colorful pens, and whatever I can to creatively stick my biggest hopes and dreams on a poster board made me giddy. Each year I was super hopeful that my new year’s resolutions, those cutouts of pictures of people in love, my dream home, a plane that insinuated I would be traveling to 3 different states and at least one country would manifest into my reality. So, each year I took it personally when I did not accomplish at least half of what I pasted on that board that was literally just sitting in the corner of my room.

To be completely honest with you, I did not participate in a vision board get together in 2023, and more than likely won’t this year. It isn’t because I don’t believe that they work, or I was butt hurt because I didn’t spend Christmas on an island, but because I feel like I don’t need them anymore. While I might have not been manifesting every single little detail from my vision board, a.k.a the tangibles, I gained so much more.

The one thing that can’t be bought.

I learned to love myself more, and let go of situations, habits, and people that no longer served me.

I used to be the person who was afraid to let go of relationships, because I didn’t want to lose that person. What would life look like without them in it? I did not want to find out. I was literally compromising my self worth to have them in my life at any capacity, whether big or small. This goes for platonic and romantic relationships. I literally fought so hard for people who didn’t care whether I was in their life or not. They had no problem losing me, while I did everything I could to make sure that I fit in their life. Each year I learn something new about myself, and after every “loss,” a lesson followed.

This year was another year of growth for me. Knowing when it was time to genuinely let go was a huge accomplishment for me. No, I wouldn't be sipping cocktails on a beach in my bikini. No, I wouldn’t be in my dream home just yet. But, what I will say is my personal growth is something that no amount of money could buy.

So, if you are reading this and you feel down in the dumps because you didn’t scratch off every goal on your bucket list, I am here to tell you that what you manifested for yourself may or may not be palpable, but it is very much worthy of being acknowledged.

If you finally broke things off with that person who wasn’t treating you like the king or queen you are, that’s worth celebrating. If you left a toxic work environment that was damaging your mental health, that’s worth celebrating. If you finally stopped letting other people’s opinions and judgment affect you, that’s worth celebrating. If you learned to be more patient and love yourself more and more, that’s worth celebrating. If you found beauty in what you think are imperfections, that’s worth celebrating
