Girl groups were like a thing back in the day. I mean if you weren’t listening to Blaque, Escape, TLC, 702, and so many more, what were you doing? Serious question! LOL!

I was first introduced to British girl group FLO when I attended Kehlani’s “Crash World Tour” in October. They were one of the two opening acts, and came on right before Kehlani’s set. I have to say…they passed the #vibecheck.

The crowd engagement penetrated the room, and you could tell that they had some fans in the sold-out Kia Forum. This intrigued me and my best friend who I attended the concert with to learn more about them, and most importantly their music.

FLO consists of three very talented, amazing vocalists: Jorja Douglas, Stella Quaresma, and Renee Downer. The trio gained traction for their March 2022 debut single “Cardboard Box” from their debut EP, The Lead. They were later, in January 2023 featured on a remix of British rapper Stormzy’s “Hide & Seek” song, and a rendition of Missy Elliott’s “Work It” with their March 2023 single “Fly Girl” - which had a feature from the rapper herself. FLO has performed all over the world and has racked up a plethora of awards and nominations throughout their career including “Rising Star” in 2023 at the Brit and Global awards, an “MTV Push UK & Ireland,” MTV Video and Europe nominations, as well as NAACP, and so many more. Their resume is incredibly long after forming in 2019.

The ladies recently released their debut studio album, Access All Areas, through Island Records on November 15, and their single, “In My Bag” featuring GloRilla has gained popularity extremely fast on social media.

So who said girl groups weren’t a thing anymore? Rhetorical question, of course. FLO is definitely ‘in their bag’ all pun intended. In 2025, the ladies will embark on their Access All Areas Tour in Europe and the U.S. The tour will start in Copenhagen, Denmark in March and end in Los Angeles, CA in May.
